“When we moved into our property five years ago, we knew immediately that we wanted to convert the very long garage and turn it into a playroom or study. This year we finally decided to go ahead with the work, and we got in touch with Nick at Artisan Design & Build after getting a very positive ‘word of mouth’ recommendation.
Right from the start we were impressed with the professionalism shown by Nick and the team. We liked that they are a local firm, with the majority of their work being done in Orpington and the nearby areas, where they had received a lot of positive feedback. We also liked that they only take on work that they can manage and deliver to a high standard, rather than agreeing to numerous jobs they will never be able to complete properly. The core Artisan team was excellent consisting of Nick and his son Lewis, supported by labourers and tradesmen directly employed by Artisan. They also work with an exceptional group of sub-contractors (The electricians and kitchen fitter were especially brilliant). This allows Artisan to deliver the entire package and project manage the build, giving us peace of mind throughout. Communication was always very prompt and clear, and payment/bookkeeping was done in a simple, yet effective way. The work was all done during a time of tricky material availability, but this never caused any major delays due to the careful forward planning of Nick and the team.
By the end of the project Artisan had completed the following work for us to a very high standard:
- Playroom created through garage conversion and small extension
- Knock through from kitchen to playroom
- Completely re-fit kitchen
- Rearrange downstairs layout to create separate utility room and block up side entry door
- Replace bi-fold door and French window
- New flooring throughout downstairs
- Re-pointing of exterior brick walls
- Rip out and re-fit living room due to re-wiring required
