This client frequently worked from home and needed a self contained office, separate to the house. There was a dilapidated garage to the front, the only part of the property visible from the street. The client wished to utilise this building for office space, while visually creating kerb appeal.
To achieve this, we removed the flat roof and built a timber frame inside the existing brickwork. We built a pitched roof, tiled with sleek, slate effect tiles, matching the anthracite windows and bi-fold doors. The outside was secret-fixed with vertical tongue & groove cedar wood cladding. The cedar was then sanded and varnished three times, in order to keep its natural colour and soften the grey and white theme of the rest of the property.
Internally, large timber beams were necessary to the construction of the vaulted ceiling and these were kept exposed to create a feature. An armoured cable was laid to supply power to the building.
